Extensive replanting of trees native to the Hirafu area is the central landscape concept, recapturing the forest character and providing shading and privacy to each home. The landscape design compliments the modern architecture to form an exclusive and protected private estate community.

The dark, solid cedar siding pays homage to the local Japanese tradition of torching the wood’s surface to improve its resistance and durability. This strong, indigenous character is enhanced with contrasting white window frames and whitewashed balcony and porch walls - adding an element of playfulness to the architectural composition.
