Niseko

Great skiing and four wonderful seasons.

There are good reasons why the Niseko ski resort has long been known as “the St. Moritz of the Orient.” Both the abundance and splendid quality of its snow, as well as its long and varied courses, are the equal of famous European ski areas. Niseko's explosive growth in popularity amongst the foreign ski community attests to the superb skiing to be enjoyed here. The many natural hot spring resorts scattered throughout the surrounding region offer all-season relaxation. This is truly a unique location, where residents and visitors can enjoy the beauty of the Japanese landscape with the feel of a first class international ski resort.

Niseko: a skiers' paradise

Located on Japan’s northernmost island of Hokkaido, Niseko has become the premiere destination for skiers throughout Asia and Australia. The five-month ski season runs from December through April, during which time Niseko receives fresh powder snow almost every day. Annual snowfall reaches about 15 metres, more than the popular resorts of Europe and North America. Niseko boasts three of Japan’s best ski resorts: Grand Hirafu, Annupuri and Higashiyama, which offer 57 runs covering 47,000 metres. With lifts open from 8:30AM to 9:00PM, this is also one of the biggest night-skiing areas in the world.

Visitors from Australia and Asia enjoy a much shorter flight to Niseko than to the ski resorts of Europe or America, as well as no jet lag. Charms include a beautiful natural setting with silver birch forests, a variety of hot springs and a 15-metre snow cover. In the summer, golf and a wide range of other outdoor activities are readily available, while throughout the four seasons the area is known for its delicious food from both land and sea.
